Falling into darkness

Falling into darkness

Stem smooth and pliable, the fabric of leaf body stretched between veins of red. It catches on the ridges of my fingers and with my eyes closed I think I could dive into this. Dive deep into the meeting of my flesh with the flesh of the tree. Deep into the pulse which is faded but I still feel. Bump bump a rhythm faint a ghost of an impression, pressing against the pulse of my fingertips traveling up the tiny capillaries into the veins into arteries to heart and whoosh back around again. It carries the thought of the tree itself, root and...

A Day Off, my very own tiny space opera

Posted on Sep 17, 2015 in Blog | 0 comments

Flash Fiction Again!  Well this time Chuck Commands  You should write 1000 words of space opera. That’s it. Them’s the only rules. One genre. One story. Flash fiction. Dang I don’t think space is really gonna end up being my normal setting, so I based it in something I’m familiar with. A video game called Destiny. A Day Off   Ash Noy-oto walked down the stairs from the hanger to the Tower Lounge. The perforated steel of the steps clanged beneath her boots as she descended. It was loud even over the murmurs and laughter...

Chuck Wendig Flash Fiction Challenge

Posted on Sep 4, 2015 in Blog | 0 comments

Hey there,  you may sense that I’m doing something different with my blog and you’re right!  Last week I created a character as part of a flash fiction challenge for Chuck Wendig; Time to Create a Character.  This week we had to Pick a Character and Go Go Go .  If you’re interested in what happened to the character I created you can read the awesome story The Bookseller’s Grandson, by Ridley Kemp. I love seeing how Ridley answered the open questions of my character.  It’s an exciting read too. I picked an...

The Five Personality Patterns

The Five Personality Patterns

Posted on Aug 31, 2015 in Blog | 0 comments

Hello all! Last year I began work on an illustration project. It’s been years since I’ve actively dran. When my friend Steven Kessler invited me to take a stab at illustrating the personality patterns I had some trepidation. Ultimately I went for it because it felt like an invitation back into my long neglected craft.  It took us months, both being novices at this kinda thing, him a client, me an illustrator. I think we both learned a lot and ultimately the illustrations serve to illustrate the patterns in a very helpful...

Chuck Wendig Flash Fiction Challenge

Create a character in 250 words or less. Bells ring as I push open the door. It’s dusty and seems empty, but the sign outside did say open. I step in; let the door close behind me. It’s a small store covered floor to ceiling with books and Doctor Who key chains, Ugly Dolls, Game of Thrones bobble heads. As I walk in drawn to the stacks of science fiction paperbacks a paper catches on my sweater. A stack of bills begins to twist. I reach out to stop it. It’s a pile of municipal water bills, next to a stack of gas and electric bills, on a...

Where I am, not where I think I should be

Where I am, not where I think I should be

I just made the appointment for a CT/PET scan.  It’s been almost a year. mid May 2014 is when I finished radiation, mid February was when I stopped chemotherapy. This week was a bit of an upset in small ways.  I had realized that three times now I’ve started working out. Which is amazing. I feel good enough to work out!  But every time I’d get a week or two into working out, and then I’d get sick.  A small cold, nothing big, but enough to knock me out of working out. At acupuncture this week I was sniveling about...

It’s been so long since I’ve felt like writing. I thought I’d write about my experience in Mirival with my dear friend, but when it came down to it, I didn’t want to.  I think this time after treatment is so transitional, it’s hard to know where to put my feet and when to start walking forward again. But every day goes by whether I know what to do or not.  I find myself stronger, happier, more centered and grounded.  I am beginning to write about my experience of navigating the waters of allopathic medicine in...

Champagne and Bats

I was standing on the deck overlooking the pond in Manton California. My shoulder was gently touching my husband’s; it was getting towards twilight, that magnificent time of day when everything is touched by the soft light of the goodbye sun.   The water was glass, flat and endlessly reflecting the sky. Small fluffy clouds paraded by slowly.  I looked to my left and saw my son following his friend Amelia, off to try to catch some tadpoles. She told him to grab a net. I heard him say OK! in his cheerful sweet voice.  I thought my...

Prayers for Radiation

Prayers for Radiation

Posted on Jun 11, 2014 in Blog | 0 comments

It’s really become clear to me how what I’ve learned in the last few years benefited me during these last 9 months, recently with the book Keys to Ascension and the group at Raise the Planet, to just time put in meditating and praying.  I’m seeing it in how I work with the radiation and my experience of it.  The experience with radiation was very different. I was terrified of doing it, because of the long term side effects.   But the experience of it was, much like an X-Ray, almost like nothing. Here’s how it...

Words have power. Knowing what it is you are speaking and being precise about it does matter. I love looking up the definition of words and then playing with that, I have done it before here on my blog, and I’m gonna do it again. 🙂 Let’s talk Radiation. That word is defined simply as the emission of energy as electromagnetic waves or as moving subatomic particles, esp. high-energy particles that cause ionization. I believe that this is why I feel fairly comfortable with this new treatment I’m doing.  Because I can...
